The African Transitional Justice Research Network (ATJRN) was established in 2004 with funding from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). It is managed by representatives from 4 Steering Committee member organisations - Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR), South Africa; Refugee Law Project (RLP), Uganda; Campaign for Good Governance (CGG), Sierra Leone; and Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana).
The Steering Committee serves as the management committee of the Network with the Regional Co-ordinator based at CSVR serving as the Secretariat and administering the day to day functions of the Network.
The Steering Committee members:
- guide the development of the Network;
- are responsible for the implementation of all ATJRN activities in their respective regions;
- contribute to all products of the ATJRN;
- and ensure that the project has a balanced regional approach.
Decisions regarding the content and functioning of the ATJRN are made by the Steering Committee as a whole which meets annually.
